Renault Drops Production Plans Clio RS16due to a Production Alpine-Clio Renault Sport Concept RS16 should get a production model, with spy shots have recently showed that Renault have done a test run for a super hot hatch. extinguish the hopes and dreams with water because it Clio RS16 will no longer make the production.
Renault through a company spokesman said that the company had to take this decision largely because of the early production of the Alpine sports car. Renault Clio production facilities should be built in the Alpine Dieppe, the same facility that will handle the production of Alpine Alpine sports car. Viewed as a facility specializing in low volume, the production of hand-built cars, Renault came to the conclusion that it takes all hands on deck sports car, leaving very little resources at hand Clio RS16.
Basically, the sports car Renault Alpine is a priority because the company has plans larger term and longer for the model, including using it as the first in a series of Alpine models.
Company executives think of delaying the RS16 production to production for Alpine sports car off the ground, but eventually decided she could not come up with a reasonable schedule - the initial launch must have been in 2018 - to avoid keeping customers waiting too long. So, instead of delaying it, Renault go with icing models completely.
At the time of this concept launch last May, super hot hatch billed as the highest performance road-going R.S. Model in history, an achievement in itself given that Renault Sport is also responsible for the pocket rockets like the Megane RS275 Trophy-R. At least, Clio RS16 also pegged to be a real threat in eradicating the Nurburgring lap record for a front wheel drive car which is currently held by Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S.
Like almost everyone, I have a ridiculously high expectations for the Renault Sport Clio RS16. That's the kind of feeling you get when you are presented a concept that features a 271-horsepower 2.0-liter engine of the Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R in lighter and smaller body Clio RS. Putting the two things together and it was obvious that Clio RS16 is built for a specific reason: performance.
RS16 engine Renault Clio Sport Concept: get a 271-horsepower
Clio RS 220 comes with a smaller 1.6-liter turbo-four engine that produces 217 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The figures allow the hot hatch to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 6.6 seconds before reaching a top speed of 146 mph. Now imagine if the same Clio RS completely modified to use larger Megane engine, while also keeping the weight of the car as light as possible and add a variety of technologies and mechanical components to fit everything together.
Clio RS 220 lap time around the Nurburgring is 8:23, a record for a compact hatchback. Instead, it's big brother, the Megane RS 275 Trophy recorded a lap time of 7: 54.36. Now imagine if the same machine is skyrocketing Megane for a lap included in Clio and given enough modifications to make subtle changes. Do you think 7 Honda Civic Type R: 50.63 lap record for a car front-wheel-drive will be safe? I certainly do not think so.
but the business side of the industry has prevented us from seeing that, though, I personally can not blame Renault to prioritize the Alpine sports car. It's the right business move, although it sucks it should come at the expense of Clio RS16.
